Brookfield’s girls upsets Garfield; eye Newton Falls on Saturday

Bailey Drapola and Autumn Kirila tallied 13 points apiece for the Lady Warriors.

RAVENNA, Ohio (WKBN) – The Brookfield girls’ basketball team held on to upset top-seeded Garrettsville Garfield, 50-48, in the Division III Ravenna District Semifinal. The Lady Warriors led at the half 28-21 and held onto defeat the G’Men.

The third-seeded Warriors will now face Newton Falls, who rolled past LaBrae tonight 64-30, on Saturday at 1 pm in the District Championship at Ravenna High School.

Brookfield’s Bailey Drapola and Autumn Kirila both had 13 apiece. Drapola finished the contest 4-8 on her field goals while Kirila was 6 for 7 from the floor. McKenzie Drapola tallied 10 points.

Garfield’s Grayson Rose led all scorers with 17. Lauren Jones was 4 for 7 from the foul line as she finished with 10 points.
