WALLINGFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — If you are thinking about making 2016 your year to get a new set of wheels, Consumer Reports released its list of the best cars of the year and Audi came out on top.
Audi is number one this year, according to Consumer Reports’ list of annual rankings. The winners are picked based on buyer feedback on reliability and road tests. They placed Audi in the top spot despite an emissions test cheating scandal.
Rounding out the top five were Subaru, Lexus, Porsche and BMW. The lowest-ranking brands were Fiat, Jeep, Mitsubishi, Land Rover and Chrysler.
Audi of Wallingford’s Ray Angle says there is more to car buying than a survey. It is important you ask the right questions to get what works best for you.
“Where do you live, where do you work, how many miles do you want to drive a year, what are your needs,” he suggested you ask.
He also suggests researching local dealers to see how satisfied customers have been and ask if you are a better candidate to lease or buy.
Angle said you will likely notice a trend on many lots.
“A lot of our products are going to a blend of electric. It’s a big push for not only Audi, but a number of other premium brands out there,” Angle said.
Consumer Reports says its rankings are based solely on who is making the best cars, and it doesn’t evaluate a company’s honesty or labor conditions.
