CANTON, Ohio (WKBN) – 24 of the best high school divers in the state of Ohio converged in Canton this afternoon for the OHSAA Division II Girls State Championship. Once again that includes East Palestine Junior Faith Anderson.
Anderson is no stranger to Canton. She’s qualified for the State Finals each of the last three years. But this year may be the toughest yet.
The 2016 Championships meet included the most talented field of divers in recent years.
Her freshman year, Anderson missed the cut after the first round. Last year she finished 15th overall. Wednesday she was hoping to earn a spot on the podium. And she was very close.
Anderson was in seventh place after round one.eighth place after round two, and she qualified for the final round of 16.
Anderson eventually placing tenth overall in Division II… just two spots away from the podium.
The good news…Anderson is just a junior, so she’s got one more shot at medal next year.
