POLAND, Ohio (WKBN) – Members of a local labor organization are targeting Dominion East Ohio, as well as a valley contractor, over a Poland pipeline project.
A couple dozen men and women stood out in the rain Wednesday morning next to the Poland Post Office, protesting the hiring of DM Excavating in Brookfield to handle a pipeline replacement job for Dominion in the village.
Union members said DM is a non-union shop, and they are questioning the company’s work history. WKBN reached out to the owner of DM Wednesday morning but has not received any response.
We also contacted officials with Dominion and learned that DM is one of a number of companies hired to work on portions of a multi-million dollar pipeline replacement project for the region.
“Bad safety record, and some other violations, and we feel like this is our work,” Rocky Digennaro with Laborers Local 125 said. “And we’ve always had it in the past, and we’d like to continue to have it.”
