WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – Harding connected on 11 three-point shots enroute to their tournament opener 91-47 victory over Akron Springfield this evening. Gabe Simpson – who made 5 three-pointers – led all scorers with 23 points. Shakem Johnson tallied 20 points. Derek Culver added 15.
The Raiders forced the Spartans into 23 turnovers.
Harding led by 15 after the first quarter (25-10) and extended their lead to 23 (43-20) at the half.
Springfield was paced by a pair of seniors Ronnie Dawson – who took team-high honors 13 points – and Jordan McLean (10 points).
Next up for the top-seeded Harding Raiders (20-3) is Youngstown East (5-16) on Saturday at 7 pm in Warren.
