Hermitage man, charged with murder, dies from own injuries

Police think Edward Tremmel shot himself in the face after killing his wife.

HERMITAGE, Pennsylvania (WKBN) – Police in Hermitage tell WKBN that the man who shot and killed his wife last month has died from injuries sustained in the incident.

Edward Tremmel, 51, had been in critical condition in the hospital since police say he shot himself in the face. Before that, investigators think he shot and killed Cheryl Tremmel, 44, in their Sample Road home.

The incidents occured on Jan. 29. Police weren’t saying what triggered the shootings, but family members say Cheryl was planning to leave her husband.

Edward Tremmel had been charged with criminal homicide.
