Lakeview avenges earlier loss; wins District

Lakeview outscored Howland by 11 in the second half.

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – On November 27, Lakeview lost an overtime thriller to Howland, 65-60. Then almost two months later, they fell to Poland (58-53) on January 30. Those two setbacks were Lakeview’s only blemishes throughout their regular season schedule.

Within the last three days – the Lady Bulldogs avenged both losses as they got by Poland in the District Semifinal on Monday (42-34) and then tonight Lakeview was crowned the District Champion – 47-40 – at Fitch High School.

In the final AP statewide poll, both the Lady Bulldogs and the Lady Tigers were ranked #10 in Division II.

Lakeview trailed at the half 17-13. The Lady Bulldogs went onto score 34 points in the second half to advance to the Regionals.

Annie Pavlansky led the way with 19 points (8-10 FT) and Addie Becker added 10 while Lindsay Carnahan had 9.

Howland was paced by Sara Price’s 10 points while Victoria Rappach tallied 8 and Mackenzie Maze had 7. The Lady Tigers season comes to a close at 20-6.

Lakeview (22-2) will now face Elyria Catholic in the Regional Semifinal on Tuesday (at 8 pm) at Barberton High School.
