WEATHERSFIELD, OH (WKBN)-The Jackson-Milton girl’s basketball team are district champions after the Blue Jays topped McDonald 36-20 in the Division IV Mineral Ridge District Final.

Defense was the story of the day for both teams, especially the Blue Jays. They held McDonald to single-digit scoring in each quarter (6 in the first and second quarters and 4 in the 3rd and 4th quarters). No Blue Devils player reached double-figures.

Even though they had trouble scoring, McDonald played tough defense of their own trailing just 10-6 after the first, and 16-12 at the half.

But Michaelina Terranova was able to slice her way around the Blue Devils defense for a game-high 14 points.

The Blue Jays draw 4-seed Cornerstone Christian, who upset top-seed Richmond Heights on Saturday, in a Regional Semifinal on Thursday at Perry High School at 8 PM.
