STRUTHERS, OH (WKBN)-After trailing by 15 in the 3rd, Lowellville sparked a big comeback but missed a last second shot to tie, giving McDonald the win 56-53.

It is the third-straight season that McDonald has eliminated Lowellville in the Division IV Struthers District Semifinals.

The Blue Devils opened the game on a 13-1 run and controlled the pace of play for the majority of the first half leading by double-figures.

The Rockets however made a run at the end of the 2nd quarter to cut the deficit to just 8 at the break.

But McDonald hit the gas again in the 3rd, putting the lead up to 15 points towards the end of the quarter.

That is when Lowellville started their comeback, pulling to within three but falling just short on their tying shot at the buzzer.

The Blue Devils were paced by senior Jake Reckard who had 18 points while Braeden Poole added 15.

For the Rockets, Cole Beatty and Vince Hensperger each had 14 points while Tyler Barone had 13.

McDonald moves on to play the winner of the Lisbon/Wellsville game Tuesday in the District Final scheduled for Friday.
