Driver charged after passenger killed in Beloit crash

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Alliance man who was behind the wheel when a passenger in his car was was killed has been indicted by the Mahoning County Grand Jury.

41-year-old Bryan Whitehurst is charged with aggravated vehicular homicide in the Jan. 16 incident. Investigators think speed and alcohol played a role in the crash.

43-year-old Curtis Bauer was killed in the crash when the vehicle hit a tree, then a house on 5th Street in Beloit. Whitehurst was injured, but no one in the house was hurt.

Whitehurst was being pursued by the Ohio State Highway Patrol after running a red light in Sebring.

He is to be arraigned on the charge on Tuesday, Mar. 8.
