Ursuline fends off Poland to capture 3rd Straight District Title

Senior Greg Parella also set the school's all-time scoring record in a 73-61 win Saturday.

Boardman, OH (WKBN) – The Ursuline boys basketball team defeated Poland, 73-61 Saturday in a Division II District Final at Boardman High School.

It was a back and forth game from the start, but the Irish took a 36-29 lead at halftime. Armon Nasseri jump-started the Ursuline offense with a dominant first half, he finished with 23 points for the game.

Senior Greg Parella scored a game-high 28 points, including 18-22 from the free throw line, and passed Tim Joyce for the school’s all-time scoring record in the process.

Poland finishes the season with a 20-5 record, while Ursuline improves to 19-6. The Irish will face Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary next Thursday at 6:15 PM at the Canton Memorial Civic Center.
