NORTH BLOOMFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – A seventh grade student from Bloomfield Middle School is the winner of this year’s Tribune Chronicle-Scripps Spelling Bee.

Riki Kaiser spelled the final word correctly — retorts, which¬†means quick, smart and witty replies. She was presented with a trophy, a dictionary and a check for a $4,000 scholarship, if she decides to attend Kent State University.

Kaiser competed against third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth graders in the local spelling bee.

She will also represent the Warren Tribune Chronicle in the National Spelling Bee in Washington this May.
