Crash in Youngstown backs up traffic

A car and a school bus crashed near the intersection of Auburndale Avenue and Market Street in Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A crash between a car and a school bus in Youngstown Monday afternoon sent at least two people to the hospital and backed up traffic Monday afternoon.

The crash, involving the bus and a Ford Taurus, occurred around 4 p.m. at the intersection of Auburndale Avenue and Market Street in Youngstown.

There was a baby in the Ford Taurus. The mother and baby were taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital to get checked out.

There were students on the bus, but no one was taken via ambulance from the scene. It is unknown if any of the children were injured.

Parents were coming to get their children, and the school district also sent another bus to take the remaining children home.

The crash shut down traffic for some time, both north and south on Market Street near the intersection.

The accident is under investigation. Youngstown Police could provide no further details on Monday evening.
