Interstate 80 closures announced

The detour will last three months, until early June

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A major detour on Interstate 80 begins Monday.

The Ohio Department of Transportation is closing the ramp that goes from I-80 westbound to state Route 11 south in Austintown.

Drivers taking the detour will go on the 7-11 connector before heading to I-680, which goes back on Route 11 south.

The detour will last three months, until early June.

I-80 westbound between state Route 193 and state Route 46 will also have various nightly lane restrictions between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. through Thursday, March 10, for traffic pattern changes.

This work is part of a $91.5 million project to widen I-80 between Route 11 and Route 193. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by late July 2018.
