WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Warren man was charged with felonious assault and criminal damaging after police said he struck another man in the face with nunchucks.
An officer was sent to a Washington Street apartment complex to investigate a reported assault in the parking lot around 2 p.m. Saturday.
The alleged victim told police that he had just moved to the apartments and was speaking to another tenant who was in his parking spot when the suspect, 37-year-old Eugene Wallace, “came out of nowhere” and began yelling at him.
The man told police that Wallace struck him in the face with the nunchucks, causing a cut to the left side of his face. A witness was outside when the attack occurred and he said Wallace had been “acting strange” for a couple of days, according to a Warren Police report.
Wallace was arrested and taken to Trumbull County Jail. Police said while at the jail, Wallace was asked if he had any weapons and responded, “I left my knives and nunchucks at home.”
Wallace was arraigned on Monday and pleaded not guilty to the charges, according to court records.
