Tanker overturns on I-80 in Mercer County

All lanes have re-opened

A tanker truck overturned on I-80 in Mercer County.

MERCER, Pa. (WKBN) – Traffic was slowed on Interstate 80 eastbound in Mercer County Monday because of an overturned tanker truck.

The accident happened just after 4 a.m. Monday on I-80 eastbound between Mile post 17.0 and Mile Post 18.0.

The driver told police he was trying to miss a deer when he lost control of the rig. He was pinned behind the steering wheel and had to be rescued but suffered only minor injuries.

One lane was closed to traffic for about 2 hours as crews worked to clear the scene.

All lanes were open by 6 a.m.

Nothing was spilled on the roadway.
