YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The beginning of spring is still more than a week away, but new infrastructure projects are getting underway and existing projects are intensifying in the Mahoning Valley.
Monday night, the I-80 westbound ramp to Route 11 south in Austintown Township was to close through early June as part of the I-80 widening project. That means Route 11 southbound is detoured to Route 711 south and I-680 north.
As part of that project, the contractor is putting up nighttime lane restrictions on I-80 westbound to reconfigure the traffic pattern. That work between Route 46 and Route 193 is underway through Thursday. Work hours are 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
There’s also daytime work on I-680 in Beaver Township near the turnpike interchange. Watch for lane closures there. The Route 164 bridge over the 680 freeway is being repaired.
Also on I-680, there’s nighttime work underway through Friday under the Vestal Road bridge. This is just north of the Route 711 exit. Work is underway 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
And a section of South Schenley Road in Youngstown will be closed to traffic for a sewer line repair on Tuesday. The road will be closed between Kirk and Canfield Roads as well as between Canfield Road and Sierra Drive. Canfield Road will remain open.
