HOWLAND, Ohio (WKBN) – Police in Howland have charged a mother accused of creating an unsafe environment for her four children.
Loretta Price, 42, was issued a summons for a misdemeanor child endangerment charge.
Howland Police said they discovered the home the family was living in was in deplorable condition with rotting food in the kitchen, dirty laundry, and fecal matter on mattresses and walls.
This all started after a woman found a four-year-old wearing only a dirty diaper walking around Howland Springs Road unattended and called Howland Police, according to a police report.
“These children, we cannot allow to stay in that home, it’s a dangerous situation for them,” Howland Police Chief Paul Monroe said. “If she can make a safe, loving home for them, that’s great, if not we’ll work endlessly with children services to make sure those kids are in a safe environment.”
Price is set to appear in Warren Municipal Court on Friday. Police said the children’s father is working with Trumbull County Children Services to gain temporary custody of the children.
