YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – John Kasich will campaign around Youngstown this weekend ahead of Ohio’s primary election on Tuesday, March 15.
On Sunday, the Governor will be at the Spread Eagle Tavern in Hanoverton at 6 p.m. for a town hall meeting.
Monday, he’ll be at Brilex Industries on Andrews Avenue in Youngstown at 10 a.m.
YSU president Jim Tressel will be Kasich’s guest at both events. If you want to sign up to go to the event, you can do so online.
Republicans who support Kasich say the stop in Youngstown on the day before the election means a lot, and they are prepared for a big win for the Ohio governor.
“I think that speaks volumes about how significant this part of the state is to his campaign,” said Mark Munroe, chairman of the Mahoning County Republican Party.
Among those who have recently endorsed Kasich:
- Chicago Daily Herald (among Republican candidates)
- Ohio State Football Coach Urban Meyer
- Astronauts Steve Oswald & William F. Readdy
- Cleveland Plain Dealer (among Republican candidates)
- Former Pennsylvania Governor and U.S. Attorney General Dick Thornburgh
To prepare for Election Day and Kasich’s visit to the area on Sunday and Monday, the party is passing out flyers and signs for people to stick in their yards.
“We’re trying to spread the word out as best we can. We want everyone to know about the event,” Munroe said.
