Kennedy Catholic advances to State Semifinals

The Golden Eagles held off North Catholic Friday, 58-53 at Slippery Rock University.

Slippery Rock, PA (WKBN) – The Kennedy Catholic boys basketball team held off North Catholic, 58-53 Friday in a Class A State Quarterfinal at Slippery Rock University.

The Golden Eagles led 28-26 at halftime and could not pull away in this game. They hit several free throws down the stretch to seal the victory, now just two wins shy of a State Championship.

Senior Drew Magestro led the way with 14 points for Kennedy, while Sagaba Konate had 11 and Jason Austin 10.

Kennedy Catholic will face Sewickley Academy Tuesday in the State Semifinals at Slippery Rock University at 8PM.
