One person dead in house fire in Cleveland suburb

One man escaped the burning home in Bay Village, Ohio.

BAY VILLAGE, Ohio (AP) – Fire investigators say one person is dead following a fire at a home just outside of Cleveland.

The blaze broke out in Bay Village around 7 p.m. Thursday and firefighters say they saw flames coming from the house when they arrived. It took the fire department about 45 minutes to control the blaze.

One man was able to escape the smoke and flames, but one person was found dead in the living room.

Authorities didn’t immediately identify the victim.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
