Teen bicyclist dead after central Ohio crash

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (AP) – Authorities say 15-year-old boy is dead after his bicycle was rear-ended by a vehicle in central Ohio late Saturday night.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says William Scarberry was riding southbound along U.S. Route 62 near Ransburg Avenue in Franklin Township at about 11:40 p.m. Saturday when he was hit from behind by an unknown vehicle. Investigators say the boy was knocked off his bike and into the northbound lanes, where he was hit by an SUV and sedan.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sheriff’s office has identified the vehicles and drivers that hit Scarberry in the northbound lane. The make, model and color of the initial vehicle remains unknown.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact them.
