CORTLAND, Ohio (WKBN) – The Cortland Rotary awarded the Parks and Recreation Board a $5,000 dollar gift Thursday to help with Phase II of the splash pad project being constructed in Pearl Park.
When finished, the 1,400 foot splash pad will feature several water attractions, a walkway around the pad and landscaping.
The cement surface and underground piping have already been installed. A safety surface and the water features will be installed in the next phase of the project.
The splash pad is being solely funded through private donations. Fundraising is still ongoing for the project. A 5K race, sponsored by Cooper’s Cycle and Fitness, is planned for April 16. Also, fundraisers are ongoing with Beef O’Brady’s restaurant, Quaker Steak and Lube and H&R Block.
A Gofundme account has also been set up for the project.
A ribbon cutting ceremony for the splash pad is scheduled for some time in May.
