Kennedy Catholic has won their seventh boys basketball state title

Kennedy Catholic defeated the Mighty Elephants from Math, Civics, and Sciences.

HERSHEY, Pa. (WKBN) – Kennedy Catholic High School has won its seventh Boys’ Basketball state title in school history, defeating the Mighty Elephants from Mathematics, Civics and Sciences Charter School — a Philadelphia school.

The final score was Kennedy Catholic — 71, and Mathematics, Civics and Sciences — 60.

Kennedy Catholic and the Mighty Elephants played the Class A State Final Friday at 2 p.m. at the Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Kennedy Catholic won its last state championship in 2001. It was Kennedy Catholic Boys’ Basketball Coach Rick Mancino’s first state championship as a head coach.

Mancino, a Farrell native, was part of the 1985-86 Kennedy basketball team, coached by Joe Votino, that captured the first of the program’s seven state crowns.
