Key Losses: Coach Barker, who is 3 wins shy of 100 victories during his career, must replace all three outfield positions. However, the loss of four-year letter winner Nick Ferguson – who was the team’s captain last year – and Darren Colon will be difficult to substitute. Ferguson finished the season with 14 hits (4 2Bs) and accumulated a 2.12 ERA in 36 1/3 innings of work. Colon had an on-base percentage of .377 in 72 plate appearances.

Key Returnees: The Rams return a pair of All-League seniors in Mac White (C/P) and Aaron Frantz (1B/P). “Both will be counted on to lead the team offensively and defensively again this year,” says Barker. “They’ll (see) an increased workload on the mound.” White hit for a .333 average (21-63) while reaching base at a .455 clip for an on-base percentage. Mac closed out 2015 with 6 doubles and 10 RBIs. Frantz also had a stellar year by leading the team with his .344 average (22-64) which included 5 doubles and 13 RBIs. Both were solid on the hill as White garnered a 2.23 ERA in 15 2/3 innings while Frantz accumulated a 2.07 ERA in 23 2/3 innings. Three-year letter winner Jared Gherardi also returns for his senior season. The middle infielder also solidifies their pitching rotation. Last Spring, Gherardi pitched in 27.1 innings and finished with a 2.56 ERA as he struck out 27 batters and compiled a 3-3 mark. Sophomore Mike McLean is expected to take the next step after a solid freshman season. McLean batted .250 (11-44) and reached base 33% of the time he was up to bat.

Outlook: The Rams return a lot in terms of their senior class as well as the core of a pitching staff which had an earned run average (as a team) of just over 3.00. With four freshmen (Jordan Zupko, Jacob Carfolo, Cole Tidswell, Cameron Watkins) joining the varsity roster – Ridge will need them to acclimate to their new surrounding quickly to vie for the league title.
