WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Warren man was sentenced to community service after police said he beat a dog in the head with a rock.
Police were called to an apartment on Lodwick Drive for a disturbance on November 23. Officers found Kashuan Robin Williams with blood on his hands and shoes. The dog, which was in the backseat of a vehicle, had a wound on its eye and blood covering its face.
Williams denied hurting the dog, saying it ran away and returned covered in blood. A woman in the apartment, however, told police that Williams was angry after the dog defecated in the house, and he took it to a back room where “there was a lot of commotion,” according to a police report.
Police said a caller reported seeing a man hit the dog over the head with a rock, and officers found a rock covered in blood outside of the apartment. Police advised the woman to take the dog for medical treatment.
Williams was charged with cruelty to animals, a misdemeanor. He pleaded no contest in Warren Municipal Court, and he was sentenced to 76 hours of community service and three years of probation on Tuesday, according to court records.
