MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Police are investigating a report of a large block of ice that fell out of the sky and smashed into a parked car.  It happened around 4:40 p.m. Friday at the McCafferty Kia car dealership in Mechanicsburg.

Matt McCormick was with two customers when the ice smashed through the windshield.  “We heard a whistling noise and turned around and thought what we saw a bird flying toward are car,” said McCormick, “It turned out to be a football sized ice chunk.”  McCormick says he has seen a lot over the years, but nothing like that.  “It was coming in pretty fast,” said McCormick, “It was making that noise you hear from the fireworks that spin.”

Employees say the police arrived, and determined that is was likely, that the ice fell from a plane, flying above the area.

There were no injuries.
