Sprint says texting restored after temporary issues

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Sprint customers should have their service restored to normal Friday afternoon after the company had problems with its text messaging service Friday, according to the company.

The company sent this statement to WKBN just before 2 p.m. Friday:

This morning, some Sprint customers were experiencing a disruption in SMS service. Our network teams worked quickly to restore service to normal performance levels as of approximately 11:10 a.m. CT today. We apologize for any disruption in service impacted customers may have experienced and we thank them for their patience.

The company posted two separate tweets Friday morning warning customers about a potential outage:

Team Sprint – We are aware of an issue impacting SMS functionality. Working diligently to resolve. Will update as soon as more info avail

Some Sprint customers are still experiencing a loss of SMS service – we’re working to quickly resolve. Thanks for your patience!

If you are a Sprint customer who is having trouble sending texts, you can call the company’s customer service number at 1-817-698-4199.
