Youngstown PD: Employees thwart robbery attempt at McDonald’s

The attempt happened at a McDonald's on Fifth Ave. in Youngstown Thursday afternoon, according to police

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Employees foiled a robbery attempt at a restaurant in Youngstown Thursday, according to a police report.

Police said that early Thursday afternoon, 28-year-old Michael Matos walked up to a cash register at the McDonald’s on Fifth Avenue in Youngstown and demanded money.

An employee who was mopping the floor punched Matos, and employees and hold him on the ground until police got there, according to a police report.

Police arrested Matos and took him to the Mahoning County Jail. He was arraigned Friday afternoon on a robbery charge, and a preliminary hearing was set for 10:30 a.m. April 1 in Youngstown Municipal Court.
