Shooting on Youngstown’s south side sends 1 to hospital

The shooting occurred around 10 p.m. on East Avondale Avenue

A shooting on East Avondale Avenue in Youngstown sends one to the hospital.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Youngstown Police are investigating a shooting that happened on the south side Sunday night.

When police arrived about 10 p.m. at a home on East Avondale Avenue, they said they found a man in the basement of the house who had been injured by a gunshot wound.

The 25-year-old male victim told police he was shot while walking in the area of East Boston and Avondale avenues.

Police said the man’s injuries did not appear life-threatening. Paramedics took the man to St. Elizabeth Health Center with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Police have not named a suspect in the case.
