YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Dozens of kids from around the Mahoning Valley went to the Big Apple Monday, and it’s all in an effort to keep them on the right path in life.

The Community Initiative to Reduce Violence works to help at-risk youth choose a non-violent way of life.

More than fifty kids are taking the four-day bus trip to New York City, where they’ll visit several colleges.

While loading up the bus this morning several of those teens told us these trips are life-changing.

“Our goal is to show them that the possibilities are endless, and that with the correct choices, you can do anything you want to in life,” CIRV Coordinator William Burney said.

Burney said this a good way for students to spend their spring break. They’ll be taking another trip in May to see schools around Ohio.
