Mathue O'Malley arrested for aggravated arson.

CAMPBELL, Ohio (WKBN) – A Campbell man is facing charges after police say he set a fire at a house where his ex-girlfriend was inside.

Police were called Saturday night to a house on Tremble Avenue where a family member of the girl said Mathue O’Malley, 18, attacked him with a weed trimmer.

Witnesses said O’Malley had his ex-girlfriend inside the house and wouldn’t let her leave. According to a police report, O’Malley threatened to kill himself and others. He also threatened to turn his dog loose on police.

O’Malley then came out of the house with a can of gasoline and lit the front porch on fire. When he tried to go back inside, police arrested him.

The fire was quickly put out by the fire department.

O’Malley is charged with aggravated arson and is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
