CLEVELAND, Ohio (CNN) – Firearms will not be allowed at this summer’s Republican National Convention in Cleveland.
That word came down Monday from the U.S. Secret Service.
Ohio is an open carry state, but firearms are not permitted inside the Quicken Loans Arena, where the GOP Convention will be held in July.
A petition to allow open carry firearms was posted online a week ago at Change.org by someone whose user profile has since been deleted. The petition had more than 45,000 signatures by mid-afternoon Monday.
