O’Dell’s big game boosts Girard past Champion

The Indians rallied to win, 4-3 in 9 innings of action Tuesday.

Girard, OH (WKBN) – Tyler O’Dell came up with clutch hitting and solid pitching for Girard, as the Indians rallied to beat Champion, 4-3 in 9 innings Tuesday at the Girard baseball field.

O’Dell finished as the winning pitcher with 2 strikeouts and one walk in 3 innings of relief work. He also went 2-4 from the plate with 2 RBI. The Indians trailed 3-0 in the 5th, when back-to-back Champion errors led to several runs and a 3-3 tie.

The game went to extra innings, and in the bottom of the 9th, Troy Trumbetta laid down a suicide squeeze to score Brady Hunkus, the game-winning run.

Girard improves to 2-1 on the season and host Springfield Wednesday at 5 PM.
