YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Mahoning County Commissioners are expected to discuss the possible consolidation of 911 and dispatching services for Austintown and Boardman Townships at a meeting on Thursday.

At township meetings on Monday, both Austintown and Boardman determined that consolidating would be in the residents’ best interest, be more cost efficient and avoid redundancy.

The commissioners will consider joining the townships, which would form the Austintown-Boardman-Mahoning County Joint Communications District.

According to a press release, each of the entities recognizes the need for a joint system for the health, safety and welfare of its residents.
