WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A teenager was arrested in Warren Tuesday on a warrant related to a March 9 robbery in McDonald.
Walter Franklin, 18, was cited for a marked lanes violation during a traffic stop, according to a police report. He was then arrested on an aggravated robbery charge and taken to Trumbull County Jail.
Franklin was later released on a $10,000 bond, according to court records.
Franklin and two other suspects were accused of robbing two acquaintances in McDonald. The men reported that Franklin and the two suspects took their shoes, cell phones and money and left them on the side of the road.
The alleged victims told police that they were riding with Franklin and his friends to the bank to get money, as Franklin’s friend had offered to buy a pair of Jordan-brand shoes from them.
One of the alleged victims told police that he noticed the men who took his belongings were on Facebook attempting to buy drugs from his online friends, and he believed that they were trying to set them up to rob them as well.
The police report did not say whether the other two suspects were charged in relation to the robbery.
