UPDATE: Cruz Ramos was arrested on Friday after he was shot in the leg on Maywood Drive in Youngstown.
CAMPBELL, Ohio (WKBN) – Thursday, police in and around Youngstown were working to find a registered sex offender from Puerto Rico who had been living in Campbell and led police on a chase Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
Suspect Luis Cruz Ramos, 30, has been on the radar of Campbell Police for at least several days. Tuesday, Campbell Police told WKBN that they received a call from a woman who said she used to live with Ramos on Murray Avenue in Campbell but left in late February or early March, saying that Ramos was holding her inside the residence against her will. Campbell Police contacted Puerto Rican authorities, who confirmed that Cruz Ramos had warrants on charges of sexual aggression, aggravated damage and aggravated larceny.
Police said they went to the house on Murray Ave. Wednesday night, but no one answered the door. Cruz Ramos came out of his apartment, jogged to the street and got in his white van before speeding away from police.
Neighbors near the home told WKBN that they didn’t know Ramos well and that he didn’t talk much. One neighbor said that if they knew about the charge against him, Cruz Ramos wouldn’t have been welcome.
