WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – The annual Greek Independence Day parade marched through Warren on Sunday.
The day honors Greece’s independence from Turkey in 1821.
The procession traveled from St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church on High Street to the pavilion at Courthouse Square Park.
“I told the kids, I thought Santa Claus was going to be joining us this morning,” Father Constantine Valantasis said. “Our ancestors endured 400 years of very bad times, what’s a little snow in April?”
Families gathered at the St. Demetrios Banquet Center on Atlantic Street following the parade and program.
