CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – Mill Creek MetroParks Farm in Canfield celebrated its annual Farm Animal Baby Shower on Sunday.
The shower has been going on since 1992 and marks the kickoff for tour season, where employees visit elementary school students throughout the county and host field trips at the farm.
The event featured traditional barn animals and some “exotic” animals including kangaroos, camels and alpacas.
Agricultural Education Programs Manager Brenda Markley says having the event in the spring is significant.
“Springtime is when most people associate…new birth and babies, and flowers and all of that. So the baby shower…simply emphasizes the fact that it’s time for baby animals, lots of baby animals. Animals are being born and that’s what we’re highlighting today.”
Mill Creek MetroParks Farm is now open to visitors from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
