SUNBURY, Pa. (AP) – Sunbury’s mayor has suspended the city’s lone K-9 unit, saying he wants answers about how the police department uses the German shepherd.

Mayor David Persing says he’s been asking for records for six months and hasn’t received any answers.

The police dog was purchased for $10,000 and is handled by Officer Scott Hause. The unit is funded with donations, but the mayor says another officer must fill in for Hause when Hause is training with Skoty.
