Ursuline baseball capitalizes on South Range errors

The Irish used a strong 4th inning and solid pitching from Bokesch and Petrillo to polish off the Raiders Tuesday.

Struthers, OH (WKBN) – The Ursuline baseball team used a strong 4th inning to hold off South Range, 3-1 Tuesday at Bob Cene Park.

The Raiders grabbed the lead early on a run in the 2nd inning, but could not generate any more offense. Two errors in the bottom of the 4th inning allowed Alex Schlosser and Drew Potesta to score and give the Irish a 2-1 lead. Two batters later, Chris Patton hit an RBI single up the middle, allowing Gianni Quattro to score and make it a 3-1 game.

South Range loaded the bases later in the 7th, but Vito Petrillo closed the deal with a strikeout and popout to end the game. Brice Bokesch also allowed just one hit with 6 strikeouts in 5 innings of work.

Greg Dunham threw 6 strikeouts in a complete game effort for South Range (3-3). Ursuline improves to 4-2 overall and return to action Wednesday vs. Struthers on Field 3 at Bob Cene Park.
