Vienna, OH (WKBN) – Some of the area’s finest senior athletes made their college decisions on National Letter of Intent Day Wednesday.
Mathews senior Meredith Grimes has been a staple with the Mathews softball program the past several years, and will continue her career at Mercyhurst University. She was a WKBN Diamond King in 2015 after helping her team to the Regional Tournament. She batted .618 with 4 HR, 20 doubles, 37 RBIs and 32 runs scored for Mathews. Her fielding was just as good, posting a 0.969 fielding percentage at first base.
Joining Grimes in signing was classmate Bryan Oatridge, who will play golf at Lakeland Community College. South Range senior Mollie Pierson also signed the dotted line Wednesday. She will join will track program and run cross country for the University of Tampa.
Fitch track star Logan Kusky led the way for the Falcons, signing with the Notre Dame track and field team. But Kusky wasn’t the only Fitch thrower continuing his career. Senior Falcon Jake Dorbish is also headed to the Division One level, and will join the Youngstown State track and field program. Fitch wrestler Adam Green also signed with Baldwin Wallace and cross country runner Matt Rozic will continue his college career at Duquesne.
