NEW YORK (AP) – The executive behind CBS’ morning news program is taking over as the executive producer of Stephen Colbert’s “Late Show.”
CBS announced Wednesday that Chris Licht will be making the unusual shift. The morning news show, while still third in the ratings behind “Good Morning America” and “Today,” has made significant critical and commercial strides since Licht began guiding it behind the scenes.
Colbert started fast as David Letterman’s replacement last fall on the “Late Show,” but recently has been running very close to ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel behind the late-night comedy leader, Jimmy Fallon of NBC’s “Tonight” show.
Ryan Kadro, who has been a co-executive producer of “CBS This Morning” with Licht, will take over the show on his own.
