WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – Warren Police are investigating what they believe was a targeted shooting, although it is unknown if the injured victim was the intended target.
It happened around 1:51 a.m. Wednesday in the 1300 block of Southern Boulevard Northwest.
A bullet grazed the back of a woman’s neck while she was sleeping in a front bedroom of the house. The woman told police she awoke to the sound of gunshots and tried to take cover when she was struck by the bullet.
Most of the bullet holes on the front of the house are on the left side, exactly where the victim was sleeping at the time. Investigators said the house had seven to eight bullet holes in it, and several shell casings were found on the ground outside.
“My feeling is, is if they’re shooting up a house or targeting someone inside…they’re definitely gunning for somebody that frequents that house,” said Captain Robert Massucci.
Investigators say the victim was treated and released from the hospital before they finished processing the scene.
Massucci says they have very little information in this case, and need the public’s help.
“A lot of what we do hinges on what the public tells us, so yeah, we need cooperation just about every case we investigate to solve them.”
