STRUTHERS, OH (WKBN)-Cardinal Mooney scored two unearned runs in the top of the 7th inning to take the lead, and the win over rival Ursuline in the final of the Bob Cene Park Catholic Baseball Tournament 7-6.

With the bases loaded and two outs, on a 3-2 count, Devin Curd shot one to the right side which the Irish second baseman could not handle, allowing Mooney to plate two runs and take the lead. It was one of six Ursuline errors on the night.

In the bottom half of the inning, Drew Potesta sent a shot all the way to the wall in centerfield that proved to be the games most exciting play. Potesta headed for third and an errant throw from the outfield got away from the third baseman, which allowed Potesta to try to take home. But he was tagged out at the plate by Curd to keep the Mooney lead.

Curd was a force offensively as well reaching base four times while Jack Lynch went 2-4.

With the win, Mooney improves to 10-5 and have won 9-straight games.

The loss drops Ursuline to 11-7 overall.
