WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – The former director of State Senator Capri Cafaro’s district office has been indicted by a Trumbull County grand jury.
Jonathan Wike, of Niles, is facing charges of grand theft and theft from a person in a protected class.
Wike was fired from his position at Cafaro’s district office in July, after she learned about an ongoing criminal investigation. Police reports from Cortland, Howland and Vienna had listed him as a suspect for passing bad checks.
Wike was a longtime aide to Cafaro, volunteering for her first campaign in 2004.
According to court documents, he is now accused of stealing thousands of dollars his 89-year-old grandmother, as well as Cafaro.
