HOWLAND TWP., Ohio – A 16-year-old Howland High School junior was arrested at the school Tuesday in connection to a bomb threat found written on a girl’s bathroom stall earlier this month.

The Tribune Chronicle reports that school officials, working with the Howland Police Department, were able to narrow down the investigation to the suspect. They say the threat claimed the bomb would go off on April 20.

Parents were notified of the potential threat and asked to not allow their children to carry backpacks to school the next day.

The girl initially denied any involvement, but later confessed to the crime and is charged with felony inducing panic. Howland assistant police chief Nick Roberts says she wrote the threat as a prank.
