YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Boys and Girls Club of Youngstown had a backyard cleanup Saturday morning.
Volunteers from the city, YSU, YNDC and many others took part in the event.
The volunteers cleaned the yard so the club can put in basketball courts and kick ball fields. The purpose is to give the kids who are a part of the club somewhere to play.
“Making sure that there’s no limbs that they can fall over, any way that they can get hurt while they are trying to have fun, so we are trying to prevent that from happening along with making it a great space for them to use. It’s a lot of space out here so we want to make sure they can come out here, have fun, let loose and be a kid,” said Germaine McAlpine of the Boys and Girls Club of Youngstown.
Phase two of the cleanup will be coming. FirstNews will have more information when there is a set date.
