WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A man was found guilty in the attempted abduction of a woman in Champion.
David Honzu was tried in Trumbull County Court of Common Pleas for the attempted abduction with sexual motivation charge.
Prosecutors say Honzu stopped a jogger last year on Airport Road on the guise of asking for directions.
The victim, Carol Matacic, said she started to feel uneasy about Honzu’s questioning and started to run away. She said Honzu came after her and yelled at her.
Matacic said she got away by running to a nearby house and calling 911.
Honzu has been convicted of sex crimes in the past, including rape in 1995 and menacing by stalking with sexual motivation back in 2010.
