Police: Youngstown man jailed on multiple charges

The arrest came after police were called to Ellenwood Avenue for a reported fight involving weapons

Samuel Richard is charged with felonious assault, aggravated menacing and other charged in Youngstown.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Youngstown man is in Mahoning County Jail, facing multiple charges after police were called to a reported fight involving weapons.

Samuel Richard, 27, was charged with aggravated menacing, improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, having weapons while under disability, obstructing official business, driving under suspension, felonious assault and having weapons under disability.

Police were sent to the 200 block of Ellenwood Ave. for the reported fight round 3:45 p.m. Monday. When officers arrived at the house, a Jeep Cherokee drove away at a high rate of speed, according to a Youngstown Police report.

The Jeep was stopped on E. Marion Avenue, and police said its three occupants got out of the vehicle.

Richard was one of men who was detained by officers, and police said he had multiple warrants for his arrest. Richard would not obey commands by police and provided a false name to officers, police said.

Police said three loaded handguns were found in the vehicle.

Richard was taken to Mahoning County Jail on the charges.
